Thank You :)

In June 2008 I released my Leather Flower Vests and was proudly loitering in my little store in Alpha Centauri ( lets see how many of you remember that store? heehee)store waiting (optimistically) for an influx of people all eager to purchase my lovely new vests... the influx didn't come, but something way better did... or rather, someone; that someone was Achariya Maktou.

Acha had been drawn to my store when she'd seen my post on the feeds and had decided to pop over. I had no idea who Acha was; we'd never met and I always been woefully out of touch with the goings on of life outside of my own faery realm. I had no idea that she was a blogger. We began to chat, and I found an easy rapport sprung up between us, we had a laugh at my total lack of interest in shoes (something I've only recently begun to overcome...thanks Siddean & Jackal!)and spoke about Acha's studies that she was undertaking.

Acha then proceeded to purchase a number of items from store, I think in one fell swoop she'd managed to top my income at that time for a whole week. I was totally amazed and incredibly thrilled by her compliments as she tried on each purchase in the store... in the end wearing a crazy assortment of things that all just seemed to go together... I would later realise that that is a natural skill and trademark of Acha. Acha consistently came up with interesting looks using pieces and designers wares that most people would never dream would work together...and yet, she did it time and again :D

We then got onto the topic of blogs, with Acha saying that she would use some of the things she'd purchased in a post... WOW! I was stoked :D Being slightly left of center in SL and not fitting into any particular subculture or category, you pretty much found getting any sort of press a bit few and far between. A few bloggers would show my things from time to time...but THIS was a blogger who I didn't have to seek out, I didn't have to send a review copy to and hope that they would like my things enough to blog it...this was someone who had sort me out! I was amazed.

Acha later sent me the link to this post HERE.

Achariya Net has since shown many creations from Studio Sidhe and followed the crazy journey that has been my store. I have never forgotten the day that Acha wandered into my little store, and I have always been appreciative of her and her support of my work.

Anyways, I just wanted to share the impact that Acha and her blog have had on me and my store... we've both been enriched by the connection.

Thank you Acha <3

Community Spirit Blogger Challenge: Zai Lynch

Cajsa IM'd me the other night and asked me if I was interested in doing this blogger challenge...YUP! I love any opportunity to celebrate our unsung heroes!

Zai Lynch is a mate of mine from quite a ways back, she immediately sprung to mind for this. You see Zai is not one of the drama set, she's not in a fashion clique and you may never have heard of her... but Zai is amazing. When I first met her she was heavily involved in all sorts of volunteer services to help other residents, one of these was the Mentoring program.

Zai later became active as a German speaking Linguist and has done a lot to break down the language barriers in SL.

You're probably reading this and thinking that she must be someone that doesn't have a lot going on in RL, and you'd be wrong, she has a very full RL... but the truly amazing thing about Zai is that she *makes* time to help others. For as long as I have known Zai this has been true.

I don't catch up with Zai anywhere near as often as I should, I really have no excuse, I just suck basically. But she is often in my thoughts, and I check her wiki from time to time to see what latest craziness she's been up to... oh! that's the other thing about Zai, besides being a true altruist, she also is hilarious, she has a gadget for every occasion and it's ALWAYS fun, and she just has a wacky kind spirit that makes me smile.

I raise my glass to the Zai's of SL, because without people like her, SL would not be a place that I would want to stay or spend time in.

Love ya Zai,

*hugs*

Faery.

PS I blatantly flogged the image from Zai's Flickr stream *shh* I didn't know if I should upload one of my pics of Zai with her funky dreads as she seems to be all chic nowadays! LOL

Thank You Evie! =D

Evangeline Miles is a mate of mine, she also happens to be the amazing mind, skill and talent behind Evie's Closet. I don't give praise lightly, and those that know me will tell you that I tell it how it is. I KNOW how much time and effort goes into Evie's creations, I know the care and attention that she gives to each piece... anyone with an observant eye can see the quality of her work.

Sadly Evie has been having a rough time of it, it appears that not everyone can appreciate such fine work, beautiful detailing or the effort, skill and talent that goes into making her gowns or just how ridiculously under priced her gowns are...

So I sent out a call in plurk to the woman on my friends list yesterday and was heartened by the response to join me in a little project to show how much we care about Evie and what her work means to us.

I was inspired by a comment on plurk that someone made; "when I wear Evie's dresses, I feel like a princess" (or words to that effect) so I wanted a way to show Evie that there where people in SL who do appreciate her work, and what it means to them.

So we came up with a group pic... always a hard thing to round up a bunch of people in SL, but many people wanted to be a part of this! Thank you to everyone who participated and to everyone who sent messages supporting Evie :)

So thank you everyone and most of all, Thank you Evie... for making these spectacular gowns and for putting your heart into your creations.

*hugs*

SL Aussie Style: HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!!!!

Last night I was sent an IM by a great mate, Sasy Scarborough and was asked if I was busy. I looked around my workshop at the 5 different projects I'm working on atm and of course responded with "Nope!" LOL & was promptly sent a TP... and off I went!

I arrived at the Pond, everything taking an age to rez, my avatar detector telling me I was surrounded by a bomb of people I couldn't even see a hint of yet, and saw the chat from Winter; "are there any more Skips?" and a "hiya Fae" from Aems... then I started to clue in... took me a while! LOL

The Aussie party was ON!!! I hit my friends list to see my mate Flippa had just logged :( which was a total shame & quickly jumped on Yahoo to grab Ziggy Quirk (seriously one of the most fun people in SL!!!)

We soon left the pond, big drag not being able to rez stuff when you have a bomb of aussie freebie props to have out, and went to Sexy's aussie beach... IT ROCKED!!! Everyone boganed up as much as they could from their inventories... man we where CLASSY!!! But that's the real fun of Aussies, we can laugh at our selves... there was no room for all the BS that so often is rife in SL, we where all just a bunch of Aussies there to celebrate our day; Australia Day, and have a bloody good time... and we did!!!

I want to say thanks to everyone who was there, this was one of those moments that you treasure forever.

So if you see an Aussie around SL today, give em a wave, offer them a beer (they probably already have one, but it'll be an empty soon enough) and join us in celebrating Australia Day!!!

Beauty Ripper, Cobber, Mate, Kangaroos... AUSTRALIA!!!!

*hugs to you all*

~Faery~

PS I just did the group pick up like our post cards found in servos across the country... seemed to fit the yobbo bogan theme ;)

:+:Studio Sidhe:+: rant, ramble and update

Last night I released my new bone & silver engraved jewellery sets, all very exciting... I always get excited when I make something that just works :) Especially atm as my RL work is beyond crazy and full on... so to come home, make a coffee and place a couple of hundred prim beads is kinda therapeutic LOL

Anyways, I sent out note cards to my update group, and Fashion Trend... FashCon notice to come... and was all *happy dance*

Then today at work I found a minute to check my sl email account, to find a couple of offliners, which at the time I was thinking "hmm, random". Saying that they (the sender) had visited my store after receiving the notice only they couldn't actually find my new releases!

For those of you reading this who have sl businesses, you'll get that it's not unusual to receive some very interesting IM's, and in my case, for those of you who have not visited my store (/me wonders who YOU are! LOL), my store is actually ruins, with vendors hung in trees. So yeah I get a few VERY interesting IM's I guess cause my store isn't a conventional build LOL. But generally people like it, in any case I love it, so all good.

Didn't think too much of it, and figured I would just reply to the person when I got home and give them directions...all sorted. But then I got home, logged in, to find that the sim had at some point after I put the new releases out had been reset... no new funky bone jewellery in site... the offliners began to make horrible sense =/

The piccy above I did after sorting out the debacle, I think it captures just how I was feeling at the time *shrugs*

If you've read down this far, your probably wondering what the point of the ramble is... LOL fair enough! It's to tell you that the vendors ARE back up at the Main Store AND I've since listed everything on Xstreet AND OnRez... Back up is always good!

okay, I'm done with my rant/ramble/update... until next time!

Have fun!

How your viewer could be effecting how you see prims

Hi everyone,

A conundrum was happened upon recently while I was building my latest release, and I thought I would share the investigation and findings with you all.

Firstly, the dilemma: I had made a pendant using 40ish prims, most of which where sculpties and VERY tiny. When finished I sent them to my friends (as you do LOL) to great reviews so all seemed well and ready for release \o/

But then... I received an IM from Ben Vanguard who I had sent a pack to, if you've ever sent stuff to Ben for review, you KNOW he will tell you if there is something not right (one of the things I really respect about Ben). He was seeing the prim wiring at the sides of the pendant being way out of alignment! "OMG!!! How??? was my first thought" because I had done all the close-up shots of the pendants for my ads the day before, and they where fine... so I rezzed one to have a look and then I saw what he was seeing >.<

So I set to work fixing the prims, I then sent it to Ben and a copy to a fellow creator. I then got two IM's one from Ben: "Perfect! I love it" (or words to that effect LOL) but from my friend, she said that she saw the prims waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out!!!

So I thought about this for a bit, and I will admit, freaked out some... you hear about prims moving quite frequently, but how can you fix what you don't see or how can you accommodate for all the various ways people will see the one thing??? I removed my pendants from sale until I could work out what was going on.

I sent packs to my friends and got pics back, five pics in all... 5 different peoples view of my pendants:

I then got to thinking (after auto-rant about glitches and bugs for a while), what if it's the viewer people are using? So Ben who is lovely, and was just as thrown by this as me, set to work researching, downloading various viewers to test the theory. I had been using the new release viewer when taking building the pendants, but had switched back to the official viewer (1.19.1(4)) because I didn't want to upload the update at the time :P

This is what we came up with (compare the below with those above)the official release viewer at this stage is shown to be the safer bet for prim alignment (at least in this case) but as you will see above, how old your download of that version is, appears to impact on what you see. Here are the pics of fresh downloads of the official viewer on two different computers (last two images):

BIG difference between viewer versions and age of download hey!!!

Anyways, that concludes my VERY long post, sorry about that...but thank you for reading all the way to here :)

\o/ Yay me!

Ever have one of those days where you just can't be arsed to do any of the things you *should* be doing?

Today is most definitely one of those days for me... and so like any veteran procrastinator, I turn to random quizzes :P

I scored a Dynomite
70% on the
Quiz by SheGoddess: Quick weight loss

Okay okay, I can almost feel the glare from those who know me way to well and will see this and say, "Faery, back to work!!! *points at PS*"... so like a good little Faery I'm going...

I've been TAGGED!!! (Thanks Ryan :P) LOL

Ok, so I totally admit that I have been of two minds about this and the fact that I am one of the LAST to be tagged... One half of me has been all "*phew* I got under the radar!...Woot!" the other more contradictory half of me was all "WTF! EVERYONE else has been tagged except meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ;o( "

Before I try to find a happy balance between my two opposing views and get on with this; I would just like to say that I have really enjoyed reading previous tags :o)

The Rules:

Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1/ I was born and raised in gods own city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (seriously, it's the greatest place to live!) It's a place where you work to live, not live to work... we all enjoy our leisure :o) The weather is great, the people rock and nothing really ever happens in rush... I love it! I have lived elsewhere in Australia, but still Dizzy-Brizzy is the best to me =D

2/My Avatar's name Faery Sola was taken from "Faery" which is what most of my RL mates call me, because I ran a faery theme children's party entertainment business for 9 yrs. (working as a bardic faery for a total of 10 yrs) I loved it and that stage of my life, I love my present stage of life too, but I have moved on from performing arts to something where I can incorporate all my faery-ness...Teaching!!! But once a faery, always a faery! *grins*

3/ I am ADDICTED to Crocs... I have 7 pairs... Orange, Purple, Pink, Green, Light Blue, Red,Black. (the black are for evening wear! LOL... kidding! (a bit) ;)

4/I cannot cook on ANY level, I have even managed to stuff up two-minute noodles :P I love eating though, and happilly can dial the phone, so can order in, call friends who can cook and offer my services as an appreciative taste-tester, and I can use the microwave... frozen meals are the greatest invention of the modern age!

5/I HATE shopping in RL, I see absolutely no point in browsing through EVERY store in a shopping centre or mall just to see what is on offer.... I know what I want> find the shop> walk in & find item > buy... done!

6/ I love cricket, it's our national sport, and it's bloody BRILLIANT! I am a complete yobbo during cricket season and will sit for a whole test, drinking beer, eating pizza and yelling at the TV, I have also been known to make obnoxious answering machine messages for those unfortunate soles thoughtless enough to try and interrupt my cricket time :D

7/ My favourite non-alcoholic drink is a Pub Raspberry (lemonade with raspberry cordial... heavy on the raspberry) & coffee (very white, easy on the coffee, with two flat halves of sugar... which is *different* to one flat whole teaspoon... trust me it is) LOL My favourite alcoholic drinks: guinness and XXXX ( XXXX = beer, Queensland beer to be precise)

8/ I hate yellow gold jewelry and will refuse to wear it in RL or SL for that matter... I only wear silver, white gold or platinum XD

Ok done! now for the next victims... hmmm, who will they be? (the list as yet is not published as I am one of the LAST people in SL to be tagged... so am kind of out of ideas...for the moment!)

UPDATE: Wednesday Soon has been tagged!

Where the hell is Faery???

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know that due to EXTREME & unforseen circumstances(well probably not *that* unforseen given the regularity of my crashing LOL) AKA my little compy breaking, I will be unable to log into SL in the next few days =(

I would just like to take the opportunity though, to say that while my little mac was not made for the massiveness that is SL, she served me well and *sniffle* I will miss her. (ok so you've probably realised that I am one of those people that gets sentimental over the most bizarre things :P

That being said; I eagerly await my shiny new mac, and will be hanging near my phone in the next few days! Then I will be able to finish the new womens garments that I have been working on for the last week or so preceeding this debacle... hooray!

ATM I am writing this on the compy I got from RL work that is totally hideous... it's only two weeks old and I swear is powered by gerbils in need of palliative care >.< (not to mention a *shudders* PC... no offence intended to PC users out there, but I just don't work well with PCs on ANY level :P

Anyway, that's my auto-rant for this evening done. If you need any assistance in world, I thank you, in anticipation, for your understanding =D and will be in world soon.

Until then, take care and have fun,

~Faery~

Welcome to Studio Sidhe!

"Greetings one and all, we're all so glad to see you here... we'll play your favourite songs while you all soak up the atmosphere, we'll start with Ogal River then maybe Stormy Weather too, there's nothing else you have to do -- On with the show, good health to you!"
(Rolling Stones, "on with the show")

Ok so you might have guessed this blog is going to be like me (for those of you that know me), which is to say; not of the norm.

Intro to those of you that don't know me; I am a designer in SL and my shop/label is Studio Sidhe (or :+:SS:+: might ring bells for some, as you dig through your inventory =D). I am a RL artist and started out selling limited copies of my RL art in SL. I then progressed to making a few simple tops featuring my RL art. I now make all sorts of random attire... I say "random" because pretty much, I just get an idea of what I'd like to wear, then I make that, and people so far have seemed to like it.

The biggest buzz for me is seeing someone wearing something I've made... I love it! The fact that someone liked my stuff enough to buy it is a thrill, it's one of those things that never gets old XD

At the moment I am working on quite a few things... I do that a lot LOL I am sadly not one of the designers who has new releases every week, I am in fact quite possibly the slowest designer in SL :P But when I release stuff I seem to either do it in either a big way or with quite a few items at once :o)

Anyway, thank you for reading my first entry, I had better get back to my drawing board =D
